Shiz and Sweet Pea met by accident in a mutual friend's kitchen in 2015. Their shared appreciation of chocolate, trails, adventures, independence, and potty humor have kept them together since.

SHiz
Shiz (aka Chris) grew up in Vermont's outdoors. He learned to appreciate being in nature while hunting and fishing with his dad and brother. He enjoys trail running, mountain biking, hiking, reading, and eating ice cream.
Although trained as an environmental engineer and chiropractor, Shiz has spent most of his professional career as a business analyst and consultant. He looks forward to reflecting on his future professional efforts during the hike.
Shiz’s son is currently a senior in high school. His graduation weekend in mid-June will be an exciting and welcome hiatus from hiking. Shiz turns 47 in May and will celebrate with a pint of Ben & Jerry’s in a yet-to-be-determined Virginia town.

Ten years ago, Sweet Pea (aka Vicki) started running with the support of an amazing running group. Road running led to trail running and an appreciation of moving in the beauty of the woods. Read more about Sweet Pea's reasons for hiking the AT here.
After a practice career as a mechanical engineer, Sweet Pea did graduate work in biostatistics and epidemiology. She recently opened her own statistical consulting business, Hart DataWorks.
Sweet Pea will have just turned 40 years old at the start of the hike. She lives in beautiful Burlington, VT and is an avid baker. She will miss cookies most of all.
